Ocean Cypress

I stood on the beach at Cambria, California, looking up at this strong, twisted cypress tree. It was an impressive site with the wind-swept form, and I worked on a pencil sketch while listening to the sound of the ocean behind me. Later that evening, I used my sketch to paint the tree’s image in water color.
