I have been an artist my whole life, exploring various media. A third grade teacher once told me that I was creative, and that set my path in motion. Presently I am concentrating on fiber arts, with scarves, wall hangings, and greeting cards. You will find much of my work in the Whittier Art Associations’ Gift Gallery, online, and various shows throughout the year. I regularly participate in boutiques.
I am a graduate of CSULA with a degree in Fine Arts. My first years out of college began as a graphic designer, illustrator, interior designer, and freelance artist. After having children, I preferred working out of my home. As an artist I enjoy creating something interesting out of found objects.
I have had the privilege to judge art competitions for high school students for both the Whittier Art Association as well as for Congresswoman Linda Sanchez. Both venues contribute scholarships for these future art majors in local colleges and universities. . I have been actively promoting the arts as a way to teach children, and have coordinated many summer arts and crafts programs for all ages and written curriculum spreading the arts into the classroom for school volunteers. I have participated as a member of the Music Center’s Art and Educators committee. I am teaching a fiber arts class to partially sighted seniors in Van Nuys, CA.
By day I am also a Parent Educator, teaching Parent/Child classes. I show parents how to enjoy music, song, dance, dramatic reading and art as a way to academics. I am in the process of clearing my Fine Arts Credential to add to my credential in Arts and Crafts and Parent Education.
